Newport is a city defined by the sea, and there are few venues that capture that nautical spirit as elegantly as The Bohlin. Located in the heart of Newport Yachting Center, it offers a front row seat to the harbors world class sailboats and iconic dreamy light that every editorial photographer dreams of.
An Editorial Vision By The Harbor
For Jordan and Jack’s summer celebration, the aesthetic was bright, coastal, and sophisticated. Against the backdrop of the Atlantic, we focused on a palette of crisp whites and hydrangea blues, a quintessential Newport choice that photographed both timeless and fresh.
While the setting was grand, the heart of the day was found in the unscripted moments. One of my favorite memories was the couple’s choice to include their pug, complete with a floral collar, in their portraits! I was able to capture the moment their pup joined the photos, rushing over to greet Jordan and Jack and smiling for his closeup. These are the moments that bring a gallery to life, the genuine laughter and raw emotions that happen when posing stops and celebrating begins.
The Golden Hour Seaside Escape
In Newport, golden hour isn’t just a time of day, it’s a transformation. As the sun begins to dip behind the Pell Bridge, the harbor is bathed in a soft, honeyed glow that turns the water into a shimmering editorial backdrop.
We took this opportunity to step away from the celebration for a few moments alone with the bride and groom. These are often the most cherished images in a Lia Rose Weddings album, away from the eyes of the guests, the couple can spend a few moments soaking it all in, while capturing romantic images for the ages. It’s a brief window of time, but it results in the most atmospheric images, capturing the transition from the bright energy of the afternoon to the sophisticated glow of a Newport evening.
A Summer Legacy
After the sun set below the horizon and the harbor lights began to twinkle, the party moved to the Bohlin’s iconic sailcloth tent. It was the perfect conclusion to a day that was as much about the editorial aesthetic as it was about the honest love between two people and their loved ones.
